"And whoever wants to be first must be your slave- just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

-Matthew 20:27-28

Our goal is to walk together, following the footsteps of Jesus as He demonstrates true leadership.

LEADER IN TRAINING

Everything we teach is meant to go beyond Michindoh. We understand that most people won’t live at camp forever and so our focus is to develop people for whatever lies down the road. No matter where you end up, the skills learned in our LIT program will serve you will. Critical thinking, Problem solving, Life Management, Effective Communication, Conflict Resolution, are just a few of the many skills LIT’s will learn at Michindoh.

Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men. Proverbs 22:29

LIT Programing

In essence, our LIT program is a step between camper and staff with elements of both included in what the LIT program is. LIT's will enjoy the activities, games, challenges, and special events tailored specifically to their specific age group.  The camper life is a blast at Michindoh and we make sure to include all the fun times in our programming. In addition, LITs also serve alongside our staff, helping to ensure our Summer Camp the best that it can be. Our goal is to match each LIT's position with their passion, creating a one-of-a-kind experience for them that they can't find anywhere else.

This program offers more than just a great time, it also provides valuable work experience which can be used to polish an attractive resume.

Intentional Mentoring:

Each year, we hire two amazing LIT directors to oversee our LIT program. This male and female team are phenomenal leaders who have proven their abilities as past Summer Camp Counselors and are considered All-Stars of our staff. Every LIT will meet weekly with the LIT director of their gender to speak and hear from someone who walks life’s path ahead of them.

"Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance," (Proverbs 1:5)

Discovering Potential through Adventure:

To embark on an adventure is to discover one’s limits and take one step past them. At least, that is what we believe. In confronting outside circumstances, what is unknown becomes known and what is uncomfortable becomes comfortable. If you're willing to take one step past your comfort zone, and then another, and another, you will discover you are capable of things beyond what you ever imagined. At Michindoh, we meet each LIT where they’re and walk with them, one step at a time.

"...I came that they may have life and have it abundantly." - Jesus

Mark 10:10b

Practical Skills:

Everything we teach is meant to go beyond Michindoh. We understand that most people won’t live at camp forever and so our focus is to develop people for whatever lies down the road. No matter where you end up, the skills learned in our LIT program will serve you well. Critical thinking, Problem-solving, Life Management, Effective Communication, Conflict Resolution, are just a few of the many skills LIT’s will learn at Michindoh.

"Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men." Proverbs 22:29

Learning by Experience:

At Michindoh, we don’t just teach leadership, we do leadership. We believe the best way to learn is through experience and so we give our LIT’s consistent opportunities to try out different leadership styles in a variety of different contexts. Our goal isn’t to toss LIT”s in the deep end and hope they swim. But we walk with them through the swallows, equipping them with life jackets as we walk the journey beside them. Sometimes, greater than succeeding, is learning.

"And [Jesus] called the twelve and began to send them out two by two" (Mark 6:7)
