Job Description
COAL stands for "Christian Operations and Leadership." The COAL Program is a full-time, year-round, hourly position that includes room and board for Christian young adults. Each COAL Associate (CA) has the opportunity to progress through a, roughly, 5-year training program that covers the wide-range of responsibilities and certifications that encompass just about every area of Christian camp and retreat center operations that are valuable in all ministry and business contexts.
Training Includes:
Customer service; hosting groups; using camp management software; audio/visual systems setup and operation; housekeeping, food service, dining hall managment; maintenance related work projects, lifeguarding; high ropes and climbing wall; a wide variety of recreation activities; facilitation of teambuilding; recruiting; counseling; leading devotions and spiritual activities; running business operations; customer account management; and teaching school children about adventure, nature, animals, outdoor skills, and Michigan history.
Qualifications
A successful CA will:
Love Jesus and be growing in their faith (Michindoh is a ministry and CAs are trained in discipling junior staff, leading devotions, etc.).
Be teachable (after all, it’s a training program).
Have a good work-ethic (we don’t micro-manage adults training to be leaders; leaders must be able to lead by example).
Have a desire to serve God and others (staff get the most out of the program when they understand ministry is about service).
